SEMA NAGA TRIBE BODY CLOTH/SHAWL

This is a newly made Sema Naga’s body cloth, traditionally worn by men or women of that tribe only; the distinctive, colorful, diamond shape patterned stripes helped to identify this Naga tribe from another, made necessary because of the common headhunting culture. The quality, color and extent of the design also indicated the status or merit of the wearer to the rest of the tribe.
Entirely hand loomed of fine acrylic fiber, this 75” x 48” shawl has a substantial weight to it, so that it can provide great warmth through the winter as well as serving as a beautifully ornamental covering or decoration. These Sema rich black, red, green and yellow tribal designs are some of the most colorful and striking among all Naga cloths. There are no more of these available.
