The monarch butterfly reverses through the life cycle from butterfly to cocoon to caterpillar.  12 inches long and 22 inches wide wing span when unfolded.  Once you have made the transformation from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly, then you can put your hand in the butterfly to make its wings flutter.
The butterfly wings are soft material and have pockets in them to put your hands and wave the wings.
There is a hang tag attached inside one of the wings with directions on how to reverse the butterfly.  There is one zipper on the butterfly side and two zippers on the cocoon side - one for each stage of the butterfly.  Depending on the child, we recommend that they be 6 or 7 years old to change this puppet from one stage to the next.
