DON PRECHTEL ORIG SIGNED OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING STILL LIFE W/ NAVAJO BLANKET. Don Prechtel (b. 1936) has been a professional working artist since 1968. Prechtel is also a historian and an avid collector of antique western and military accoutrements. His studio is filled with a large library and a fine collection of artifacts, which he incorporates into his paintings. Many of the paintings have been reproduced on book jackets, magazine covers and illustrations in historical and scholastic publications. His paintings are in private collections, museums and military installations throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. The original oil on canvas painting offered here is a wonderful example of Prechtel’s skills as an artist and his eye for detail. The painting depicts a still life comprised of autumnal items that include multi-colored corn and a pumpkin, as well as a blue enameled coffee pot, a tin cup, and a Native American basket arranged on a Navajo blanket. The painting is signed in paint in the upper right corner. A card from the Americana Gallery is affixed to the reverse stretcher. The painting is unframed and measures 18” x 24”. Overall, the painting is in excellent original condition. This is a terrific painting by a well-known and highly collected artist that would make a wonderful addition to any collection of Western art.
