    Description

    US 1944 V-Mail letter (you can see the silver in it) --- letter is to Mrs. Cassandra Shimmon, Noreiga Street, San Francisco, California --- from Cpl. John D. Kochur, Headquarters Sixth Army, A.P.O 442, San Francisco, California --- A.P.O. 442 indicates that at this time this writer is located in Papua New Guinea--- letter is uncensored
    Letter is dated 4 August 1944, New Guinea and begins, Dear Mrs. Shimmon --- "Your most welcomed letter arrived and it is so nice to hear from you again.  I hope that this letter finds you well.  As for myself, I am feeling fine.  The reason for me not answering your first letter was because my organization has moved deeper into this country."
    After a few more words he adds, "Well the news is really good.  I guess it won't be long before the Germans are thru and then we will really work on Japan.  The shows here are shown to us six nights a week."
    He ends with, "Give my regards to the Commission. Hew is Mr. Stayton?  Say hello for me.  Love Johnnie."
